I am a hamster and gerbil breeder located in the Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio.   I breed for show quality animals with excellent temperament and health.  For the hamsters, I use the standards set by the California Hamster Association; for the gerbils, the standards set by the American Gerbil Society.  I work with a large variety of colors, patterns and coat types.

Holmden Hill Haven began with a few hamsters in the fall of 2003 when I moved into my home at the top of Holmden Hill.  Since then, my hamstery has grown considerably and I have just begun working with gerbils.  It is the genetic aspect of breeding that I enjoy the most.  I evaluate each of my animals’ traits (type, color, coat, temperament, etc.) and select mates that will compliment each other.  Every litter is planned with a specific goal in mind.

I am a member of the Internet Hamster Association of North America (IHANA) and the American Gerbil Society (AGS).  If you are looking for general information on hamsters or gerbils such as care, feeding, cage requirements, etc., I recommend you to visit those sites.  IHANA operates in conjunction with Hamsters in Focus, an excellent message board focusing on breeding strategies and techniques, genetics, exhibition standards, and ethics as they relate to the purposeful, goal-directed breeding of both Dwarf and Syrian hamsters.  The American Gerbil Society also has an associated, more general message board: AGSgerbils.  I encourage you to join these groups, especially if you are considering breeding.

Pups are usually always available for purchase and I do ship.  If you don’t see what you are looking for, contact me to see if I have any litters planned that might produce what you want.  Most adults can be adopted for free when they retire from breeding.  If there is an adult that you like, please contact me and I will let you know its availability.  I hope you enjoy looking at my beautiful animals!
